Frequently Asked Questions

What is calibration?

Calibration is not a warranty or statement of how long an instrument will last or operate. Calibration is purely an indication that the instrument was found to be performing within its specification at the time of calibration, and only at the time of calibration. It proves that the instrument is operating to the manufacturer’s standards.

How frequently should an instrument be calibrated?

The frequency of calibration is determined by the user or whoever maintains the system quality. Generally the decision is made that 12 months is acceptable for an independent calibration certificate

What is a calibration check box?

A calibration check box is used to regularly check the accuracy of your 16th/17th edition test equipment between calibration intervals to ensure their continuing reliability and performance. Checks are generally considered to be made every quarter; however, this should not replace an annual independent calibration.

What does my repair guarantee cover?

Repair work is guaranteed for three months and in the unlikely event of your instrument becoming faulty within that time, we can re-assess the unit. Please note that many apparently defective products are due to user error or dead batteries, damaged leads or blown fuses. Please check these items first if your meter does not work.
